What's Going on in Room 137
Classroom Management Plan
For the 2023-2024 school year we will continue the use of a token economy system to monitor behavior. Students will receive points from their teacher throughout the day. They will earn points for following expected classroom and school behaviors. These expected behaviors fall under our 3 PBIS pillars of Being Respectful, Being Responsible, and Being Safe. The students however, can also lose points for showing unexpected behaviors. Their points for the day will be how many Pride Paw they receive.
The PBIS system is designed to increase desirable behaviors and decrease undesirable behaviors.
Students will be able to trade in these Pride Paws at the end of the earning period to receive different level prizes. These Paws will also go toward the whole school collection and random winners are chosen weekly for extra prizes from the office.
PBIS
Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is a program designed to prevent and respond to classroom and school discipline issues. PBIS helps to create and maintain safe learning environments, where teachers can teach and students can learn.
Classroom Rules
Be Respectful
Respect others, school, and personal property
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
Be Responsible
Be responsible for my words and actions
Be ready to learn
Be Safe
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
Work and play safely
Google Classroom
Each student will be a member of Room 137’s Google Classroom. They will be given directions to check in to the classroom occasionally for assignments, quizzes, tests, and other possible work.
Students will be given an assignment sheet where they will write down what they need to complete for the week while working independently at home. They will bring this assignment sheet and their LION folders back and forth to school. I will be working with families and students to understand how to most effectively use Google Classroom to stay organized.
